DARK DEER

Dark Deer is an art-horror film, driven by images and sounds, without spoken language.
The Furfur demon – evoked in the practice of ars goetia – appears as the queen of liars: nothing but a reflection or refraction; the floating nothingness of Nature: a mobile, elusive scene.
There are a terror and a wonder that rest in her woman-deer disguise. This masked sphinx merges into the body of flora and fauna, funeral chrysalis and minerals; she is the ‘evil’, the horror and the beauty that are ‘trace’. The visual that burns. There can only be a maquillage or its metonymy; kaleidoscope or flower. The palimpsest of Elysium from the negative. But this dark magic’s ‘horrible visu’ does not lead to any revelation; among the words of the ritual – inscribed in the book of demons – and the images, an irreducible difference of bliss cracks. Some sap stagnates in jewelery and heraldry, as in an etching. Not even hieroglyphics translate the unknowability of the conodrum. Only the roar of the deer remains.

Il demone Furfur – evocato nella pratica dell’ars goetia – appare come la regina della menzogna: nient’altro che un riflesso o una rifrazione; il nulla fluttuante della Natura: una scena mobile, inafferrabile. C’è un terrore e una meraviglia che riposano nel suo travestimento di donna- cervo. Questa sfinge mascherata si confonde nel corpo di flora e di fauna, di crisalide funebre e di minerali; è il ‘male’, l’orrore e la bellezza che sono ‘traccia’. Il visivo che ustiona. Non può che esserci un maquillage o la sua metonimia; caleidoscopio o fiore. Il palinsesto dei campi elisi al negativo.
Ma l’horribile visu di questa magia nera non conduce a nessuna rivelazione; tra le parole del rituale – iscritte nel libro dei demoni – e le immagini, si screpola una differenza estatica irriducibile.
Qualche linfa ristagna tremula di gioielleria e araldica, come in un’acquaforte. Nemmeno i geroglifici traducono l’inconoscibilità dell’enigma. Rimane solo il bramito del cervo.
