‘The church’ is an experimental documentary on the working day of two house painters who are ‘whitening’ an attic. The monotony of daily work is explored here through multiple alternating levels; from the discursive one to the purely playful or goliardic one, up to a sort of comic-surreal dimension, in which the working ‘time’ folds up in drifts and fractures. The life of the two painters then acquires a ‘Theatre of the Absurd’ pitch, likewise the ‘embossed’ bas-relief of a representation, as stereotyped as wandering, in which, finally, the ‘tragedy of daily work’ takes the trend of a religious liturgy.
‘La chiesa’ è un documentario sperimentale sulla giornata lavorativa di due imbianchini che stanno ‘pitturando’ una soffitta. La monotonia del lavoro quotidiano è qui esplorata attraverso molteplici piani che si alternano tra di loro; da quello discorsivo a quello puramente ludico o goliardico, fino ad arrivare a una sorta di dimensione comico-surreale, in cui il ‘tempo’ lavorativo si ripiega in derive e fratture. La vita dei due imbianchini acquisisce allora una ‘teatralità’ assurda, quasi fosse ‘sbalzata’ nel bassorilievo di una rappresentazione, tanto stereotipata quanto delirante, nella quale, infine, la ‘tragedia del lavoro’ quotidiano assume l’andamento di una liturgia religiosa.
